On the evening of July 25, 1977, three boys playing near a schoolyard in Lawndale, Illinois, reported an encounter with an enormous bird unlike anything they had ever seen. According to their accounts, the creature descended from the sky with incredible speed and briefly lifted one of the boys off the ground before releasing him moments later.
The witnesses described a massive black bird with broad wings, powerful talons, and a wingspan far exceeding that of any known bird native to North America.
